Whitelist de-listing: HostDoc

We do not like to de-list our whitelisted providers, but unfortunately we have to make this difficult decision to de-list HostDoc from the Whitelist with effect from today.

HostDoc’s WHMCS implementation has been randomly leaking customer information for several months: see here, here, here and here (LowEndSpirit login needed to read as the information was posted to member’s only section).

HostDoc has admitted the problem exists and claims it was fixed. See here (LowEndSpirit login needed).

However, issue of being able to access a random customer’s services continued to surface this week, with multiple forum members reporting they had access to someone else’s services: see here, here and here (LowEndSpirit login needed).

Given the current state of evidence, we are de-listing HostDoc because compromising customers’ private data is a red line. If we have firm evidence that HostDoc customers’ private data are no longer randomly compromised, we will consider reinstating HostDoc.

HostDoc LES Ryzen LA Special

Today, we have with us the HostDoc LES Ryzen LA offer that is unusual because it is the first AMD Ryzen VPS offering that is being offered by them! They join the select few hosts on The Whitelist such as ExtraVM and Nexus Bytes in offering AMD-based VPSes. The specs of this latest offering from HostDoc is as follows:

  • AMD Ryzen 3900X @ 3.80GHz
  • 4 vCPU
  • 4GB RAM
  • 50GB Disk
  • NVME
  • 5TB Monthly Bandwidth
  • 10 Gbps Port
  • £4.99 per month (annual payment; otherwise £6.99 per month)
  • KVM Virtualization

The results of the LEBRE scoring methodology (using the lower £4.99 amount) is as follows:

Compared to REBOX1, which is also an AMD VPS, the value of this HostDoc Dallas sale offering is acceptable in terms host node single-core Passmark and disk type. Although HostDoc’s Ryzen 3900X is a little more powerful than the Ryzen 3700X which our REBOX1 uses and similar Nvme storage type, the higher asking price pulled down its value in these areas.

Aside from these two aspects, this HostDoc Ryzen offering goes head to head with our REBOX1 in every other aspect and completely obliterates the REBOX1 with a blazing 10 Gbps port speed (a rare offering for lowend boxes).

The overall LEBRE score of 137 suggests that this HostDoc Dallas sale offering is of excellent value compared to the reference REBOX1. You are pretty much getting the value of REBOX1 except that this HostDoc offer is on steriods in terms of port speed. If we put value aside, in terms of the raw specs, this HostDoc offering will beat many of the Intel VPSes on the market because of the powerful Ryzen 3900X, which can outperform even low-end dedicated machines. If you are shopping for a low end VPS that can rival cheap dedicated machines at a fraction of the cost, this HostDoc offer is your answer.

TL;DR If you missed out on the REBOX1 previously, don’t miss out on this Ryzen VPS that is just as good value for money, but leaves REBOX1 in the dust when it comes to port speed.

Stocks are limited and if you don’t want to miss out this first ever HostDoc LES Ryzen LA deal, buy your box immediately and support HostDoc, who is on The Whitelist.

HostDoc LA Black Friday 2019 Special

It seems like the HostDoc Black Friday 2019 Dallas Dual Compute offer that we featured earlier has been sold out! Fret not, the doctor still has some really potent Black Friday 2019 deals that have been quietly hidden away. The specs of this HostDoc LA Black Friday 2019 offer is as follows:

  • Intel Core i9-9900K @ 3.60GHz
  • 3 vCPU
  • 4GB RAM
  • 20GB + 70GB Disk
  • NVME + HDD Disk Type
  • 4TB Monthly Bandwidth
  • 10 Gbps Port
  • £4.17 per month (annual payment; otherwise £4.99 per month)
  • KVM Virtualization
  • Location: Los Angeles

The results of the LEBRE scoring methodology (using the lower £4.17 amount) is as follows:

This HostDoc Black Friday LA offer is a very well-rounded contender. Compared to REBOX1, it offers decent value in terms of CPU Passmark scores and disk type. It pretty much almost goes toe-to-toe with our REBOX1 in terms of number of vCPUs and bandwidth offered. As for the rest, it is ahead of our reference box by miles.

The RAM and the disk space outperformed our reference REBOX1, and once again its blazing 10 Gbps port speed is something our reference box cannot compare with, and we would like to remind you against that this port speed is a very rare offering for lowend boxes.

The overall LEBRE score of 165 suggests that this HostDoc LA Black Friday offer clearly out-gunned our reference REBOX1. It fell short by a bit, however, when measured against the HostDoc Black Friday 2019 Dallas Dual Compute offer that we shared earlier, but it didn’t fall short by too much. If you missed that offer, this one has slipped under the radar and offers you similar performance. Don’t let this one slip by too!

TL;DR A lowend box that is well-designed to handle loads comparable to lowend dedicated machines. A well-kept secret that you should grab before it’s gone too.

If you don’t want to have regrets of missing out on this HostDoc LA Black Friday 2019 offer, buy your box immediately and support HostDoc, who is on The Whitelist.

HostDoc Black Friday 2019 Dallas Dual Compute

HostDoc has already started their Black Friday 2019 sales with an even tastier offering than their previous Dallas offer we presented several weeks ago. The specs of this Black Friday 2019 offer is as follows:

  • Intel Xeon Gold 6128 host node
  • 4 vCPU
  • 4GB RAM
  • 25GB + 100GB Disk
  • NVME + HDD Disk Type
  • 1TB Monthly Bandwidth
  • 10 Gbps Port
  • £3.74 per month (annual payment; otherwise £4.49 per month)
  • KVM Virtualization
  • Location: Dallas

The results of the LEBRE scoring methodology (using the lower £3.74 amount) is as follows:

Compared to REBOX1, the value of this HostDoc Dallas sale offering is somewhat weak in terms of host node single-core Passmark, disk type is reasonable and the monthly bandwidth is clearly a bummer at 1TB monthly.

BUT, this HostDoc Black Friday prescription offers crazy value in terms of number of vCPUs, RAM and disk size, with a blazing 10 Gbps port speed (a rare offering for lowend boxes).

The overall LEBRE score of 194 suggests that this HostDoc Dallas sale offering is of exceptional value compared to the reference REBOX1. HostDoc has outdone itself, beating its own previous Dallas offer (which already trounced our reference REBOX1 by a large margin). The main downside is the 1TB bandwidth but everything else more than makes up for this. This box will perform like a dedicated for just a fraction of the price of low end dedicated servers.

TL;DR Likely to offer performance rivaling low end dedicated servers at a fraction of the price. Especially recommended for those who need computing power and ultra-fast bandwidth.

If you are afraid of missing the HostDoc Black Friday 2019 Dallas Dual Compute, buy your box immediately and support HostDoc, who is on The Whitelist.

Special note: if you are wiiling to go beyond the $7 limit that we set on LEBRE, HostDoc has what could the ultimate value high performing VPS offer (8 vCPU, 12GB RAM, 10TB bandwidth) this Black Friday for just £8.33 per month (annual payment). Check it out here.

HostDoc SG4 Singapore Flash Sale

HostDoc has restocked their Singapore flash sale VPS servers. We are looking at their SG4 server with the following specs:

  • Intel i7-7700K host node
  • 2 vCPU
  • 3GB RAM
  • 200GB Disk
  • HDD Disk Type
  • 1TB Monthly Bandwidth
  • 250 Mbps Port
  • £4.17 per month (annual payment; otherwise £4.99 per month)
  • KVM Virtualization
  • Location: Singapore

The results of the LEBRE scoring methodology (using the lower £4.17 amount) is as follows:

Compared to REBOX1, the value of this HostDoc’s Singapore offering is very poor in terms of bandwidth and port speed. However, because bandwidth is generally much more expensive in Asia, the low scores are normal. Disk type also scored poorly because it is HDD, which again is normal. It offers decent value in terms of host node Passmark performance and number of vCPUs, with excellent value in terms of amount of RAM offered. The highlight is no doubt the massive 200GB disk space that completely swallows our REBOX1.

The overall LEBRE score of 93 suggests that this HostDoc offering is of excellent value compared to the reference REBOX1. The main weakness of this box is due to its location in Asia, which unfortunately pulled its bandwidth related scores down compared to REBOX1, which is located in Germany with cheaper bandwidth. If you are in Asia and need a massive storage solution, this HostDoc Singapore flash sale server is very, very worthy of your consideration.

TL;DR An excellent box by Asian standards. Recommended for those located in Asia who suffer from storage obsessive compulsion disorder.

If you are afraid of missing the offer, buy your box immediately and support HostDoc, who is on The Whitelist.

Footnote: if you don’t mind swapping some disk storage for better storage type, you can opt for the HostDoc SG3 instead, which comes with 20GB Nvme + 100GB HDD block storage for the same price of the SG4.

HostDoc TX3 Dallas Flash Sale

HostDoc is offering another lowend VPS flash sale with the following specs:

  • Intel Xeon Gold 6128 host node
  • 3 vCPU
  • 4GB RAM
  • 20GB + 50GB Disk
  • NVME + HDD Disk Type
  • 2TB Monthly Bandwidth
  • 10 Gbps Port
  • £4 per month (annual payment; otherwise £4.79 per month)
  • KVM Virtualization
  • Location: Dallas

The results of the LEBRE scoring methodology (using the lower £4 amount) is as follows:

Compared to REBOX1, the value of this HostDoc Dallas sale offering is somewhat weak in terms of host node single-core Passmark and monthly bandwidth. Disk type is reasonable, and it offers excellent value in terms of number of vCPUs, RAM and disk size. The highlight is no doubt the blazing 10 Gbps port speed (a rare offering for lowend boxes) that leaves our REBOX1 in the dust.

The overall LEBRE score of 165 suggests that this HostDoc Dallas sale offering is of exceptional value compared to the reference REBOX1 and should perform similarly well, capable of handling a medium sized website without breaking a sweat. If you want the fastest download speeds, this box is for you. If you need lots of bandwidth, consider HostDoc’s Kansas offer instead.

TL;DR A solid all-rounder that easily rivals the reference box. Recommended for those with a need for speed.

If you are afraid of missing the offer, buy your box immediately and support HostDoc, who is on The Whitelist.

HostDoc KC3 Kansas Flash Sale

HostDoc is offering a VPS flash sale with the following specs:

  • Intel Xeon E7-4870 host node
  • 4 vCPU
  • 8GB RAM
  • 50GB + 50GB Disk
  • SSD + HDD Disk Type
  • Unlimited Monthly Bandwidth
  • 1Gbps Port
  • £4.16 per month (annual payment; otherwise £4.99 per month)
  • KVM Virtualization
  • Location: Kansas

The results of the LEBRE scoring methodology (using the lower £4.16 amount) is as follows:

Compared to REBOX1, the value of this HostDoc’s offering is very weak for host node single-core Passmark, lacking quite a bit of juice compared to recent offers on LEBRE. Disk type and port speeds are reasonable, but it truly shines in number of vCPUs, RAM and disk size. The highlight is no doubt the unlimited bandwidth at 1Gbps port speed that blows to bits our REBOX1.

The overall LEBRE score of 216 suggests that this HostDoc Kansas offering is of extreme exceptional value, obliterating the reference REBOX1. The host node CPU is pretty weak, but everything else more than makes up for that weakness. If your use case requires lots of RAM and fast bandwidth, look no further.

TL;DR Just buy it now if you don’t need a powerful CPU.

If you are afraid of missing the offer, buy your box immediately and support HostDoc, who is on The Whitelist.
